Don't let your hurt or pain define you... JUST KEEP WALKING!
So what do you do on a down week where you can't seem to get things going... where your hustle and grind is still there, and you are still rolling, but your creativity seems to be bottomed out, and you just feel a little lifeless... what does one do in a situation like this?
Have you ever noticed that when you hear little kids playing that there is a lot of talk about things being 'fair?' They love this idea of equity. But I have noticed something else, they love to change the game, change the rules, and ensure that fairness somehow always ends up in their favor, and if we take a look at ourselves, I think that it is pretty safe to say that you and I play the game of life the same way.
This week we have jumped into the fray on the issue of being hurt by the church. I know this is a contentious issue and that many of you have a variety of thoughts and experiences on this matter, but I wanted to take a swim into the deep end, pulling from my past experience as somebody who has sat on both sides of the table, and who has in some minds, portrayed both sides of the spectrum, both good and evil.
In my first post I laid some groundwork to provide some context for who I am, and in my second post, I looked at the idea, IF YOU'RE NOT GETTING BETTER... YOU ARE GETTING WORSE. In that post, I just scratched the surface, so I thought I would pick up where I left off, and then pivot.

Why do we CREATE? This is a question whose answer is as diverse as those who create. We all have our reasons why. We've talked before about the idea of CREATIVITY really being PROBLEM SOLVING. So that, in one sense, is an answer in and of itself. But I wonder if that's less of WHY and more of a MOTIVE...
Every conversation counts. Every compliment counts. Every smile counts. Every comment counts. Every wave counts. Every hat tip counts. Every "Hi" counts. Every word counts. Every moment counts. Every interaction counts. Every little thing matters...
It's been a week or two since we last chatted, and a lot has happened. First up on the list... I turned 30. The Big 3-0. Kind of a big deal, I agree, but I have to say, I literally don't feel any older than 7 days past 29. There was another really big thing that happened that has kept all of us out here in Alberta busy, and that is the Fort McMurray Wild Fire....
I get it. People are frustrating. To phrase it another way, people are the worst. If you are anything like me you occasionally find yourself repeatedly banging your head against the wall. For most of us this is a hyperbolic & metaphoric statement, but for a few us, it's a Monday afternoon.
So what's a person to do?
Have you ever taken looked at somebody and thought, "I wonder how they do it!?" Whether it's juggling multiple jobs, or creating something incredible. Maybe it's another Mom who just seems to have her act together, or may it's an entrepreneur who just seems to be grinding it out and taking things to the next level. No matter what it is they do, these people seem to leave us left in awe and wonder...
Are you creative? No... of course not, right? You aren't artistic, you don't paint, you aren't 'crafty', you don't play music, you can't build things. In fact, most of the time you don't even like most stuff created by artists... except TV and movies of course, and music. You like iTunes...
Spreading #HopeNotHype ... one decision, one conversation and one day at a time...
