ICYMI, I wrote a book called, #HopeNotHype. For any of you who have been following me for awhile, you would know that this phrase is not new. It's not a new thought for me, it's not a new idea, but the whole idea of writing this book is relatively new, and at the same time, really, really old.

We all have dreams and goals and bucket list items, but for many of us, we never seem to realize these goals. We can list off every reason why we couldn't possibly see those things come to fruition. We can faithfully recite every barrier, roadblock, and reason, why we aren't good enough, and why the time isn't right, and why we just couldn't possibly make it happen. But what I've discovered is that we are loyal to a fault.

We are loyal to ourselves, but maybe not in the ways that you would expect. We are faithful and true when it comes to telling ourselves why we aren't good enough, why we are too young, or not accomplished enough, we tell ourselves that we don't have the talent, or the connections, or our collective favorite... that we don't have the time!

Right after my book announcement came out on Twitter, I had a colleague at work swing by desk, "You wrote a book!?" he exclaimed, I spun around in my chair, nodded, muttered a yup and turned back, "When did you find the time to do that!?" he retorted!

This is our favorite trap. I turned back to my friend, and said, "Between 530 & 830am mostly..." He gave me a knowing and approving nod, and we both went back to our projects. We are 100% completely loyal to every lie that we've ever been told, but what if we decided to try something different. What if we decided to be loyal to our own dreams, visions and ideas?

What if... now stick with me here... What if we extracted whatever spare time we could, and took whatever energy we usually reserved for hating on our own dreams, and those who are accomplishing theirs, and what if we channeled all that time and energy into that one thing that have been dreaming about getting started.

Getting started isn't finishing, it's not delivering, but it's one step closer than you have ever been before, and it just might be the fuel you need to light your candle, and burn bright for your own dreams, visions, and ideas. It's time to be loyal... to who you are, what you were created for, and to the dreams that are inside of your heart.

Happy Creating!
